The Power of Slowing Down (focus)

Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is rest.

Is slowing down difficult for you, too? You're not alone. Honestly, it’s something I wrestle with almost every week. Between work responsibilities, family needs, cooking dinner, office tasks, replying to emails—oh, and let’s not forget—did I schedule those emails? Did I post on Instagram? It all adds up.
And before you realize it, weeks or even months have passed since you truly had a day of rest. Because, let’s be real—just because you’re “off” work doesn’t mean you’re actually off. Mothers, wives, and business owners can relate. That’s why I believe God created the Sabbath. Even He rested—so why do we think we’re the exception?

Maybe it’s guilt. We feel bad for taking a break when there’s so much still to do—a sink full of dishes, a mountain of laundry, unread messages. But here's what I've learned: some of my most intimate and refreshing moments with God have come when I chose to slow down. Whether it's skipping dinner prep for one night or simply sitting in silence, these small acts of rest have filled my soul in big ways.
Slowing down isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. It’s vital for your mental clarity, your spiritual growth, and your emotional well-being. I’ll never forget when one of my graduate professors once said, “Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is rest.” Back then, I didn’t believe it. Rest felt like failure. I worried everything would fall apart if I weren’t constantly on the move.
But time and time again, God has reminded me that’s simply not true. You don’t have to run yourself into the ground to be effective. You can pause. You can breathe. You can rest—and everything won’t crumble.
In fact, slowing down sharpens your focus. It cuts through the noise and helps you realign with what truly matters. Maybe that Instagram post can wait. Perhaps a quiet coffee date with a friend is more important at this moment.
So today, I encourage you: step off the hamster wheel. Take a “wellness day” instead of waiting for a sick day. Reclaim rest. There is power in slowing down. God rested from His work—and you’re entitled to do the same.
Scripture
"And by the seventh day God had finished the work He had been doing; so on that day He rested from all His work. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because on that day He rested from all the work of creation that He had accomplished."
Genesis 2:2-3

thanks for posting this thoughtful update. content like this is exactly why tools like an instagram downloader are helpful for saving important videos.
I was looking for an easy instagram reels download option and found a method that works pretty well.
You just copy the Reel link, paste it, and the video downloads in good quality within seconds.I’ve used it a few times to save content for inspiration and offline viewing. Works smoothly on both phone and desktop.
