The Blessed Way!

When we think of blessed living, we often picture peace—or, especially in our culture, a life of ease. We may think of the woman who doesn’t have to work or the influencer who “made it” online. From a worldly perspective, those lives can look blessed.

But the truth is, the word “blessed” in the Old Testament comes from the Hebrew word Baruch, which means to kneel or to bow. That doesn’t sound very “blessed” by natural standards—but that’s exactly what changes everything.

As Christians, we are called to live in a bowed position. To kneel is to live a life of humility—to stay low before God. It represents submission, not weakness. A truly blessed life is one that is fully surrendered to God’s kingship.

Sometimes, that looks like letting go when you want to hold on. Forgiving when they don’t deserve it. Showing up for others when you know they might not do the same for you.

“Blessed are those who fear the Lord.” At first, that might not sound appealing—but the fear of the Lord is actually a place of deep reverence and surrender. It’s where we choose to honor Him and keep His ways written on our hearts.

That is what it truly means to live a blessed life.

We are blessed because He is blessed. He went low when He took on human form in Jesus. He bowed when He gave up His life for ours. How much more should we bow now?

The only true blessed life isn’t found in things or in accumulating more—it’s found in a life that kneels, a life that bows in reverence to the awesomeness of God.

So lean back into God’s loving arms and embrace the beauty of a truly blessed life in Jesus.
