Allow God to pour into you and show you how to operate more efficiently in the season you're in.
I may or may not have undiagnosed ADHD. Despite doing well in school and being fairly organized, my thoughts are always racing. There were times I asked God for a switch to turn them off.
When I first attempted to meditate, the outcome was always the same. I’d begin by sitting in my prayer corner, surrounded by Post-it notes of scripture, with soft instrumental worship music playing in the background. My journal was nearby, ready for anything I needed to write immediately. Suddenly, I’d find myself in the kitchen, taking meat out of the freezer and wiping down the counters.
Slowing down in today’s busy world can feel challenging, but it’s not impossible.
As we step into the fall season, resist the urge to let your thoughts run to the next task, goal, or trip. You don’t need to keep going until you’re exhausted. Allow God to pour into you and show you how to operate more efficiently in the season you're in.
Instead of traditional meditation, I’ve found a practice that works for me: reflection. While similar,
reflection focuses on asking key questions to evaluate how things are going in your life. You can practice this monthly, quarterly, during pivotal moments, or when you feel unsure about your path. Grab your notebook, play some worship music if needed, and reflect on these questions:
1. How did the previous month go?
2. What is God revealing to you in this season?
3. How do you honestly feel about this season?
4. What have you recently learned?
5. At this stage in your life, what is most important to you?
6. What’s a recent testimony or something you’re grateful for?
7. What do you need most to support your healing and move forward?
Feel free to adjust these questions or add your own. What matters is taking a moment to recognize where you are. Not every season is for growth. Some seasons are for rest, preparation, or simply trusting God's timing.
Reflection allows you to better understand the time God has you in and gives Him the space to pour into you. Through this, you’ll gain the clarity needed to trust Him with your present.
Weekly Scripture
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.”
