Rediscovering Your Purpose: It's Never Too Late

Have you ever felt like you’re just going through the motions—existing but not really living? Trust me, I’ve been there too. When life gets overwhelming, it’s easy to fall into autopilot mode. We wake up, go through the day, and repeat—feeling like something is missing. Or perhaps, when we lose someone we love, the joy we once felt seems to fade, like the sun slipping behind a cloud.
Sometimes, we start to feel like we’re just existing because we’ve lost our “why” for living. Maybe it was that loved one who gave you a reason, or a dream you once held, but now, with loss and financial struggles, it feels like everything has been stripped away.
But what if your “why” isn’t something you need to find—it’s something you need to rediscover in God?
The Bible talks a lot about calling or purpose. But this isn’t just about a career, a goal, or a title—it’s about identity. It’s the very reason you’re alive, the essence of who you are. The world might call you a teacher, a receptionist, a student, or something else. But God calls you something deeper. He calls all of us into a closer relationship with Him, and through that connection, He reveals our true purpose—our real identity.

I know this truth personally. When I was younger, I thought I was destined to be a physical therapist. I majored in biology, and everything seemed set. But over time, I started to feel disconnected. The degree felt difficult, and I found myself interested in other things. That’s when God revealed my true purpose: I was meant to help women. He didn’t give me a specific career path, but He made it clear: Help His daughters. And that became my “why.” It wasn’t about titles or numbers; it was about serving God’s purpose for me.
Please understand: that purpose isn’t always a one-time, lightning-bolt revelation. It’s a journey. Your calling might evolve over time. It’s not about how grand the calling is—it’s about being faithful every day. The truth is, you were born with a purpose—you don’t need to create it.
Even if you’ve drifted into the mundane or let some of your dreams fade, know that it’s never too late to rediscover what God has called you to.
3 Questions to Rediscover Your Purpose:
To help you on this journey, here are three simple but powerful questions to reflect on and journal about:
What breaks my heart when I see it?
What sets my soul on fire?
What gifts, passions, or dreams have I tucked away because of life’s distractions?
As you reflect on these, remember: You’re not too far gone. God is waiting to show you the way. It’s time to rediscover your purpose, and He’s ready to help you do it.
