Looking For Ways To Find Joy In The Simple Things

Whatever season you’re in, God meets us in the simple things.

I was sitting in my room, frustrated about my current situation. Beloved, I’m at a place where I'm ready for a home of my own. And just like that, the Holy Spirit spoke up. He said, “Fix this up and in time I’ll bless you, but I need you here.” Sis, there are seasons when the Lord wants us to stay put so He can teach us things. And we can be in such a rush that we can miss out on what God wants to learn. We either move too soon, don’t acknowledge Him, or won’t even wait for Him to respond. Especially in a world that’s so fast paced, it rushes us forward and louder every day, no wonder we can’t seem to appreciate the things we have.
It can be easy to miss out on the joy of the Lord, from trying to move fast, comparing the things you have to what others have. Some of the biggest tricks of the enemy are comparison, doubt, and being impatient. But I want to send you a special invitation to slow down, to pause, and to see the beauty that God has woven into the simplest moments. Here’s a great chance for you to see the goodness of God right now. Maybe you’re longing for peace in a stormy season, or maybe your heart feels stretched thin with responsibilities. Whatever season you’re in, God meets us in the simple things. Beloveds, sometimes, the very things we overlook hold the most profound beauty. The sun that’s shining so bright in the morning light, the soft warmth of a shared cup of coffee, the handwriting on the wall from your five-year-old niece who’s now 16, these are God’s whispers to us. Ways He says “I Love you” or “I’m thinking of you”.

When we practice gratitude, be intentional and thankful for right here, right now, and we can finally tune our hearts to His presence and say, “Daddy, thank You”, and our eyes will be open to see Him. Thessalonians 5:18 says, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Joy isn’t found in comparing your life to others, but it’s found in the quiet contentment of knowing that God’s provision is enough. A box of goodies, a room that I can call my own, or even a car that only breaks down from time to time.
Beloveds, it’s the simple things that remind us God is our portion. When we can appreciate what we have right now, we can find, hear, and see the joy of the Lord right in front of us. From being able to look your 79-year-old grandma in the face, cook your 55-year-old mother a meal, or kiss your baby nephew on the cheeks. When we surrender our need to control everything about our lives and trust God’s plan, we will find a deep and lasting peace. It’s in this peace that joy has room to bloom, even in the smallest details. So I want you to pause, breathe, and look around you. Where do you see God’s hand today? In the laughter of a loved one, the fragrance of flowers, the softness of a blanket? Rejoice in these gifts. They are reminders that the Lord is near.
Father, help me to see You in the simple things today. Remind me that joy is not found in what I achieve or possess, but in Your presence and Your peace. Teach my heart to be still, to give thanks, and to trust that You are with me in every moment, both big and small.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
