Let Jesus Drive: Girl, Get in the Trunk!

The trunk is a place of total surrender.

“What does having childlike faith mean to you?” I was sitting with my small group from church, and they asked us this question. As I was listening to the other responses, the perfect analogy came to my mind. When it was my turn to share, I told them that having childlike faith was similar to getting your license. Here’s what I told them.

When you were a child and your parents told you that you would be going somewhere, you probably trusted that they would take you where they said they were taking you. You just rode in the backseat without questioning the route or how long it would take (except for on road trips, because really… are we there yet?). You knew that the driver would get you to the destination safely.

Fast forward to after getting your license and becoming a driver. When you’re riding with someone else, you start to question their decisions. You know that there are multiple ways to get somewhere, and you wonder why they’re taking the longest way. You see the speed limit and wonder why they’re driving so slow. You might try to give them directions or even complain under your breath about how you “would have been at the place by now.” Basically, all trust that the driver knows what they’re doing is suddenly out the window.

I told them that when I find myself questioning Jesus and the route He has me on, or when I start fighting Him for control, I tell myself, “Bri, get in the trunk!” I need to be as far away from the wheel as possible. Because think about it, if two people are fighting over the wheel, the car is just swerving back and forth without making any real progress. I know that I would get to my destinations a lot faster if I let Jesus be in full control.

When it comes to having faith like a child, you have to let Jesus take the wheel. You’re too aware of the route He is taking you on. You’re aware of how “slow” He seems to be moving. You’re sure that you know a faster, easier way to get to your goals and dreams, and you’re fighting Him for control. That’s why you need to be in the trunk. You can’t be in the passenger seat or the backseat because you can still see your surroundings. The trunk is a place of total surrender. You can’t see, so you can’t question. You can’t give directions or fight for the wheel. You just have to trust that Jesus will get you to where you need to be safely and on time.

So, girl, get in the trunk and let Jesus drive!

Weekly Scripture

Then Jesus went to work on his disciples. "Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You're not in the driver's seat; I am. Don't run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I'll show you how.”

That’s such a beautiful analogy! Childlike faith truly mirrors the trust we place when first getting our license—we don’t know every road, but we believe we’ll get to our destination safely. It’s about confidence, surrender, and hope. Just like the Pink Black Spider Hoodie, it symbolizes comfort, strength, and identity.

I’ve realized that a professional thesis writing service can save you from so much unnecessary stress. They usually have experts in different fields who understand academic requirements inside out. This means your thesis won’t just be well-written, but also deeply researched and fully aligned with university guidelines.
