Celebrate Your Glow

You can be confident in today and develop yourself for the future.

Here we are again. Another summer, another Glow Up. I live for this moment as a task-oriented person. I love goal-setting and personal development. So when it comes to the Glow Up, I am all in! But one thing I’ve had to be intentional about is not to get so addicted to the Glow Up that I forget how amazing I am at this present moment!

If that’s also true for you, let me remind you there will always be more you can improve. A better eating choice. A better tone to diffuse a bad situation. A more thoughtful approach in your friend’s hard season. But did you also acknowledge the talents, gifts, strengths, morals, and spirit you have right now?

I speak from experience. Starting your Glow Up is great. Wanting to be better than the day before is commendable, but let’s not do it at the expense of who we are right now. We want to add to our current shine, not tarnish it. Just turn around to polish it up again.

Even recently, as I’ve been worried about what is next, God reminded me of an activity my therapist had me do. I hope you take this with you so you can stand tall within your Glow Up season.

Make a list or write the answers out. Answer these questions at the end of each day:

1.     What are your strengths?

2.     What are your talents?

3.     What do others appreciate about you?

Do this to reset your mind from a place of lacking to finally seeing what you already possess. So maybe your waist isn’t snatched, but your organizing skills are. Maybe your outfits need some coordination, but we have you to thank for getting the girl’s trip out of the group chat.

Celebrate where you are. You can be confident in today and develop yourself for the future. We are leaving the striving behind, and walking in the glow that belongs to us. And it looks good on you!

Weekly Scripture

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Ephesians 2:10
