Be Still

Sitting on my office floor, I was covered in fears and tears.
It was time to embrace a huge life change, and every fear in the book began to rise up in me: “What if I can’t do it?” “What if I get rejected?” “Can I really make it on my own?”
With all of that happening inside of me, I knew only one thing could calm the storm within.
So I did the ugly cry to Jesus.
I told Him how afraid I was. I told Him how unprepared I felt and how nothing was opening up for me to make the move. And as I poured it all out, God began to pour back into me.
Immediately, this word dropped into my heart:
Why would you not take on this adventure? Why would you not walk in My blessings? Why would you not walk in My grace? Why would you not walk in My power? Why would you not walk in My forgiveness? Why would you not walk in My calling? Why would you not walk in My authority? Why would you not walk in My anointing? Why would you not walk in My love?
An epiphany hit me.
I realized I was resisting everything God was trying to give me. The very blessing I had been praying for was right in front of me—but it was on the other side of my fear. It was on the other side of my comfort zone.
God desired for me to have enough faith to push past fear and step into my destiny.
Fear can feel like a raging storm within us, whispering worst-case scenarios while weakening our faith. The enemy often tries to block our blessings by disguising them with fear.
But it’s in those moments we must turn to the One who can still the storm. And when we do, He speaks words that bring clarity, courage, and restored faith.
The next time fear tries to hold you back, ask yourself: “Why would I not take on this adventure?”
And watch the storm become still.
Reflection:
What “adventure” is God inviting you into that fear is trying to block? What lies has fear been telling you about your ability to move forward? Take a moment to bring that fear to God honestly, and ask Him to replace it with courage, clarity, and trust.
Weekly Scripture
“But Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on the cushion. So they woke Him and said, “Teacher, don’t You care that we are perishing?” Then Jesus got up and rebuked the wind and the sea. He commanded, “PEACE BE STILL,” And the wind died down, and it was perfectly calm.…”
Mark 4:38-40
