Stick to the Plan, Not Your Mood

I remember waking up one morning, lying next to my husband, and thinking, Wow, my life looks so different from three years ago. And then another thought followed: Even though the scenery has changed, I’m still sticking to the same plan.

Sis, if I can give you any real advice, it’s this: we have to push past ourselves and commit to God’s plan—not our current mood.

The truth is, when I first started the ministry, it was slow. There were many days I didn’t feel like writing blogs, recording messages, or even showing up. To be honest, my feelings were valid. I felt stuck. I was down about my appearance and often just unhappy. So how was I supposed to write devotionals and encourage other women?

But through Scripture, I was reminded that Paul wrote many of his letters while in prison—while stuck, while limited. Maybe he didn’t feel great about himself or his circumstances either. Yet he chose to push past his mood and stick to the plan. And his plan was bigger than him. Over 2,000 years later, we’re still reading the letters he wrote in that season. We are still being encouraged and built up.

That’s when it clicked for me: anything I do in life can’t be based on my mood—it has to be based on action.

Most days, I’m not in the mood to edit YouTube videos. It’s a long process—cutting clips, adding graphics, inserting text—and before I know it, hours have passed and my motivation is gone. But if I let my mood stop me, many of you would have never found His Daughter’s Closet ministry.

Sis, all I’m saying is this: stick to the plan, even when your mood changes.

The plans we make for our health, our family, and our dreams matter—long after our mood has shifted. It’s okay that your mood changes. That’s life. That’s part of being human. But no matter how you feel or where you find yourself, stick to the plan—and trust that God will take care of your mood.
