A Soft Spring with God

The spring season represents renewal, growth, new beginnings, and the awakening of nature. We see the once scrawny trees begin to bloom. The brown grass slowly turns green again, and a variety of colorful flowers begin to appear.

Currently, as a 2nd-grade teacher, I get to watch something beautiful. The little kids run to grab flowers as soon as they see them. They love the colors and get so excited to bring them to me. I always show my gratitude with a smile and a hug.

When we think about flowers, we don’t think about how they were made to be beautiful. They didn’t toil or strive—they simply existed.

Oftentimes, we overcomplicate our lives because we try so hard to force things to be beautiful when, in reality, beauty is already all around us.

Even in our own lives, there are so many beautiful moments happening right now that we sometimes take for granted.

My challenge to you is to have a soft spring with God. Let go of the unknown and the many cares of this world. Embrace what you do have and allow yourself to simply rest. Stop trying to figure everything out and trust that everything will work out for your good.

I know that’s much easier said than done. However, wherever you are—whether you feel like you have no money, no peace, or no joy—God can take all of your emptiness and fill it with Himself.

I know this to be true because I’ve experienced many lows in ministry. There were times when I questioned where my next meal would come from. Nevertheless, God always took care of me. Even when I felt behind or overlooked, God still shined on me.

My hope is that you take time to see the beauty around you this spring and become like those little kids who can spot beauty so easily—and then share it with someone else.

Start here to have a soft spring:

• Read a chapter a day in Proverbs

• Sit or walk outside and reflect

• Journal: “What is God growing in me this season?”🌿✨

Weekly Scripture

And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?

Matthew 6:28 & 30
