I’ve been walking with God for over 10 years, and there have been many valleys. However, I learned a few things about refreshing my walk with God through all this. I realize the issues can be deeper than the tips I am going to give you. Although this isn’t a remedy, these are the first steps to getting closer to Him and watching Him unravel any unbelief and limiting beliefs.
First, we must start with Prayer. Not prayer that you see in the church service, but real intimate prayer with God. Just an honest, pure conversation. Expressing your needs, fears, doubts, and wants. Prayer is a real, non-judgemental conversation that frees us from the things we try to hide.
Second, we must read the Bible. Remember that truth is the Word, and that faith comes by hearing the Word of God. Many of the issues in our faith are that we haven’t listened to the Word of God enough. I know personally about the inward struggles I’ve faced, and hearing the Word of God has soothed me and helped me in my darkest hour. It’s given me hope for the future.
Third, we must write down any prophecies, visions, and answered prayers. This will assist us in our journey of faith. Keeping these at the forefront of your mind will assist you in the moments you need a reminder of faith. I have written down many, and some I’ve seen and some I haven't seen yet. Each one matters, and God will use his words and revelations to increase your faith.
Fourth, get into the community. This is pivotal. Without an atmosphere of faith, you are stuck in your atmosphere. That can be doubt, fear, and reliving the same trauma over and over again. Your community will be able to hold you up and assist you in the seasons of life when the storms get loud and scary. Your community is there to assist you. I’ve got my biggest revelations and healing in my community. “When two or more are gathered in His name, God is there in the midst”
Fifth, accountability is needed for every believer. Having an accountability partner will assist you in making wise decisions and keeping you safe. I have one, and I’ve seen that when I’m struggling the most in my mindset, my fears, and life, that person can help me see a perspective I haven't seen in a while.
Last but not least, start chillin’ with God. Or maybe the correct way to say this is to just hang out with God. Invite Him into your morning routine, your shower, washing dishes, walking the dog, and even putting on your makeup. Invite God into your life and all areas. This will take your walk to the next level. You will have freedom in your walk. Not a religious practice, but a true authenticity with God, and that's all he wants. He desires our hearts, but not the way the church has taught us, but how He created us to be.
Now try these and watch your walk with God become refreshed. Not because you did this perfectly, but because you truly experienced freedom in His presence.
