Get Ready

Our yearly Glow Up series is here, but even back in February, the HDC team was already talking about it and preparing for it.
As I began the Glow Up a month prior, I realized something powerful: in everything God calls us to, He also calls us to get ready for it.
For a long time, I wondered why certain things hadn’t happened for me—why I couldn’t afford something, why I hadn’t received the promotion, why financial breakthrough hadn’t shown up, or why I didn’t even feel better about myself.
And the truth was simple… I wasn’t preparing.
I wasn’t making space for the blessing I had been praying for.
I began to notice major shifts when I started preparing intentionally. When I stopped just daydreaming about better health and actually reduced the candy, cut back on soda, and made small, consistent choices, that was preparation.
When I started putting my finances in order and saving even just three dollars at a time, I was showing God I’m getting ready for what I’m believing You for.
When I told God over two years ago I wanted to go back to school, I began preparing by improving my credit, maintaining steady work, and saving money. Those small steps made the transition possible.
Maybe the revelation is this: we don’t have certain things yet because we haven’t prepared for them.
If you want to see growth in your life financially, spiritually, relationally—you must prepare for it. That means working, investing, and intentionally building the capacity for what you’re asking God to release.
My mama used to say, “You can do anything you set your mind to.” And I think about that often when challenges arise.
But it doesn’t stop at mindset.
Once your mind is set, your life has to follow.
You have to begin preparing. You have to start walking toward it in faith. You have to get ready.
Getting ready for your blessing may look like planning your days with purpose.
Getting ready for your promotion may look like journaling your goals and income expectations. Getting ready for financial breakthrough may look like creating a plan to get out of debt. Getting ready for what you’ve been praying for always starts with action.
Don’t just pray for it—prepare for it.
Take small, consistent steps toward what you’re believing God for and watch how He begins to move on your behalf.
Don’t get lost in the details of how it will happen. Trust that God will handle what you cannot.
Today, it’s time to get ready for the thing you’ve been praying for.
Reflection:
What area of your life have you been praying about but not preparing for? What is one small, practical step you can take this week to align your actions with your faith? Ask God to help you shift from simply believing for it—to actively preparing for it.
Weekly Scripture
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?”
Matthew 6:28-30
