Finish What God Started!

In 2012, I stepped onto my college campus unsaved and unsure about my future. Little did I know that the next nine years would not go as planned, yet I would still end up exactly where I was supposed to be.

In May of this year, I finally completed my college degree.

Yes, what was supposed to be a four-year degree turned into a nine-year journey.

I'd love to tell you those nine years were easy, but they weren't.

They were hard.

There were broken hearts, financial struggles, and moments when I felt completely defeated. I ran out of financial aid, failed a physics class twice, and often felt like the biggest failure in the room.

After moving back into my parents' house in 2017, I remember feeling frustrated with life and disappointed with where I was.

I came home without a degree and feeling even more lost about my future.

I was trusting God with this ministry He had placed on my heart, but seeing little traction discouraged me. Not having my degree made me question myself and my abilities.

It was one of the hardest seasons of my life.

I struggled with panic attacks.

I battled depression.

I felt empty.

But through it all, my saving grace was my faith in God.

One day, while working on my ministry in my small home office, God whispered to me to go back and finish my degree.

To try again.

He showed me that the degree was simply a stepping stone to where He wanted to take me.

That was in 2018.

The odds felt stacked against me, and I had very little money. Yet before I knew it, doors began opening.

I found work.

I started saving money.

I moved to a new city.

I got back into school.

And somehow, God made a way.

I no longer needed financial aid because I received stipends and scholarships that helped cover my expenses.

The same physics classes I had failed four years earlier, I retook and earned A's in both of them.

The more I applied myself, the more I saw God's hand working in my life.

Today, I am officially a college graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Biology.

It feels incredible to know that I finished what God started.

Not because of my strength.

Not because of my intelligence.

But because of God's faithfulness.

I share this testimony because I almost allowed failure, setbacks, fear, and insecurity to stop me from trusting God for the impossible.

And I don't want you to do the same.

Trust God for the supernatural.

Trust Him when the process takes longer than expected.

Trust Him when the doors seem closed.

Trust Him when you feel behind.

The setback may actually be the setup for where God is taking you.

Today, I have the privilege of doing ministry, being a second-grade teacher pursuing a Master's degree, all while trusting God even more for the impossible.

So whatever God has placed in your heart, don't quit.

Don't walk away.

Don't allow fear to have the final word.

Finish the good work He started in you.

Finish what He started, sis.

Try again.

Weekly Scripture

“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”

Philippians 1:6
