Dress for Your Better Version

I used to stand in front of my closet full of clothes and still feel like I had nothing to wear. I would try on and throw off because nothing felt quite like me. I would hold on to clothes for far too long; tight dresses, shirts with the super revealing neckline, and wonder why nothing in my closet looked like the version of me in my mind. Yeah, I had a big struggle with letting go of my old clothes and my old style.

Finally one day I got a big trash bag and picked out a lot of clothes that I didn't love and never wore. I realized a lot of my clothes didn't make me feel great. If anything they made me feel more insecure and uncomfortable.

I had 2 full bags of clothes and I gave them all away! With hopes that God would revamp my closet with clothes that felt like and looked like the better version of me! Now, I didn't have the money just to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe, so I wore what I had for months until a colleague was cleaning out her closet and found items that no longer fit and asked If I wanted them. And most of the items had never been worn, and I loved every item. That was the first step to revamping my style.

Some may believe it's just clothes, however, they can make you feel confident and like your true self. The right clothes can make you walk a little taller, smile a little bigger, and dream a little broader. I know because the more I wore clothes that embodied my better version the more I noticed she wasn't so far away. I could be her, that confident, unshaken, woman of faith.

Me revamping my style was just a small step to get me close to the better version of myself that God was calling me to be.

I challenge you to do it in faith! Grab a trash bag and look at your clothing. The pieces that do not reflect your better version, let them go and make room for the new that is coming your way!

Dress for the Woman you are called to Be!
